
In a stunning upset, Bueman Senior High School from Jasikan in the Oti Region and Peki SHS from the Volta Region emerged as the winners of the Zone 6 Stem Competition respectively, beating favorites Worawora Senior High School and others.
The competition, organized by the Ministry of Education, Free SHS Secretariat, and TVET Education in Worawora Senior High School on Friday 30th August 2024, saw schools from Volta and Oti regions compete for the top prize. Despite high hopes for Worawora SHS, known for its stem excellence, Bueman SHS surprised everyone with their impressive performance.
Ahead of the main competition, these schools were tasked to perform a virtual assignment, hence the virtual results were added to the points they got during the context.

- Best Stem SHS: Peki Senior High School
- Best Stem SHTS: Keta Senior High Technical School

- Best School in Food Sovereignty: Comboni Technical Institute
- Best School in Environmental Sustainability: Peki Senior High School

In an interview, Mr. Abeiku Bright, coach of Bueman SHS, attributed their win to thorough preparation and belief in their projects. He thanked the headmaster, Mr. Frank Boamah, the school administration, the old students association, and team members for their support.
Mr. Richard Agyemang Jnr, Acting Head of Corporate Affairs, Ghana TVET Service, encouraged parents to support their children in pursuing STEM education, emphasizing its growth and importance.
Mr. Alex Quayson, organizer of the context applauded the minister for education, Hon.
Yaw Osei Adutwum, Deputy Coordinator, Free SHS, Nana Afrah Sika - Mensah and the team for championing stemnovation across Ghana to solve future problems.
