2024 polls: ‘I will prioritise upgrading road infrastructure’ — Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has promised to prioritize upgrading road infrastructure if elected president in the 2024 elections.

Mr. Mahama, who is the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), made the pledge during a recent campaign tour of the Volta Region.

In a post on social on Wednesday, August 21, Mahama outlined his plans to develop an "economic corridor linking the Volta and Oti Regions" through improved road connectivity.

If elected, Mahama promised to focus on upgrading key roads in the Volta Region such as the Ho to Aflao road and the eastern corridor road.

He said improved road networks would facilitate the development of agriculture and trade in the region.

"On my recent campaign tour of the Volta Region, I assured the chiefs and people of my determination to develop aggressively and strategically an economic corridor linking the Volta and Oti Regions.

“Among other things, we will prioritise the upgrading of road infrastructure, including the Ho to Aflao and the eastern corridor road, build a new and modern market in Aflao, and explore the production of cassava, rice, cocoa, oil palm, and ginger, among others, in the region,” he wrote.
