NDC denies involvement in Teshie chieftaincy dispute

NDC denies involvement in Teshie chieftaincy dispute

The NDC Youth Organizer for the Ledzokuku Constituency has strongly refuted a misleading news article from an online news portal, “Africaspy.com,” which falsely suggests that the NDC, the MP, and the youth organizer are fueling the chieftaincy dispute in Teshie.

The Youth Organizer firmly states that these accusations are baseless and should be disregarded. He emphasizes that the NDC in Teshie has never and will never engage in actions that negatively affect the chieftaincy affairs of the area. Instead, the party has always worked to create an environment of peace and tranquility for the people of Teshie.

He recalled that under the leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the NDC government, through the Chieftaincy Ministry led by Seidu Danaa, established a three-member fact-finding committee under the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs in Dodowa to resolve the longstanding chieftaincy dispute in Teshie.

The current dispute, he asserts, is due to the poor leadership of the current government, particularly the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ledzokuku, Mordecai Quarshie, who has failed to provide the necessary guidance, resulting in the allowance of two separate calendars for the celebration of Homowo. This situation, the Youth Organizer notes, never occurred during the NDC’s tenure, where the municipal security council, under the leadership of the MCE, maintained a unified calendar.

He further references press conferences held by the two factions of the traditional divide, published in the Insight newspaper on Tuesday, 20th August, and the Meridian newspaper on Monday, 19th August 2024, where both factions blamed top officials of the NPP, including the MCE and the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, as well as the NPP parliamentary candidate of Ledzokuku, for permitting two separate calendars.

The NDC’s efforts over the years to create an enabling environment for resolving disputes, including the establishment of the fact-finding committee, have been instrumental in maintaining peace in Teshie.

The Honorable Member of Parliament, Ben Ayiku Narteh, known for his humility, affability, and respect, has remained focused on promoting peace and harmony among his constituents. His reputation as a “peacemaker” has helped deescalate both political and traditional tensions.

The Youth Organizer, known for his strong human relations and dedication, is committed to ensuring that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and Hon Ben Ayiku Narteh win the upcoming election convincingly. He urges the NDC’s rank and file to remain calm and not be distracted by such misleading publications, focusing instead on the goal of rescuing the good people of Teshie from what he describes as the inept Bawumia-Akuffo Addo government.
