Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has expressed sympathy for Ghanaians who have struggled with hardships imposed by the challenging global economic environment for the past years.
Delivering the Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament on Tuesday, July 23, Dr. Amin Adam acknowledged the burden on Ghanaians.
“The last two years have been extremely challenging globally, and Ghana has not been an exception,” he said.
He noted businesses and families have truly suffered, especially the vulnerable.
“The difficult economic environment has truly affected businesses and families, particularly the vulnerable in our society. These challenges have severely affected households, increased the cost of living and limited the creation of job opportunities,” said the Minister.
The Minister said it has indeed been a difficult period for all Ghanaians.
“It has, indeed, been a difficult time and I empathise with all our fellow Ghanaians,” he stated.
However, Dr. Amin Adam noted “It is evident that we are on the right trajectory. The economy is rebounding stronger than anticipated.”
He told Parliament the government’s policies are bearing fruit.
“The choices we have made and the policies we are implementing are yielding results. We have reversed the negative trends,” he stated.
The Finance Minister assured Ghanaians the administration will stay the course.
“I want to assure you that we will stay on this path and continue to make the right choices. Our economic recovery is fast and strong,” he said.
