Member of Parliament of North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has accused Vice President Bawumia’s Senior Policy Advisor and Board Chair of La Palm Royal Beach Resort, Prof. Kwaku Appiah-Adu, of seizing state land belonging to the Ghana Prisons Service at Roman Ridge.

Mr Ablakwa alleges that Prof. Appiah-Adu, who he also holds responsible for mismanaging La Palm Royal Beach Hotel and attempting to sell it to Agric Minister Bryan Acheampong, is now claiming ownership of prime land allocated to the Ghana Prisons Service since June 28, 1950.

According to Ablakwa, Prof. Appiah-Adu has taken the Ghana Prisons Service to court to stop them from preventing his use of the land.

In a Facebook post, Mr Ablakwa further accused Prof. Appiah-Adu of using national security operatives to demolish a fence erected by the Ghana Prisons Service to secure the land. The case is currently in court, with the Prisons Service and the Attorney General’s Department appealing to stop Prof. Appiah-Adu's actions.

Mr Ablakwa expressed his dismay, stating, “From our SSNIT hotels, parks and gardens, beachfront, public bungalows, prison barracks, 5G, and now the Roman Ridge Borstal Institute lands — Ghana is simply on sale!”

He also commended former President John Mahama for promising major investigations and the repossession of looted state lands if he assumes the presidency on January 7, 2025.
