The NPP Parliamentary candidate for Wassa Amenfi West constituency, Hon Kwasi Afrifa has reiterated his unwavering support for the development and empowerment of women across the constituency.
"Empowering women is not just a moral imperative but a strategic necessity for economic growth. When women thrive, families prosper, and communities develop," Hon Afrifa stated.
Speaking at a colourful ceremony to inaugurate the Royal Afrifa Ladies in Breman on Sunday, 26th May 2024, Kwasi Afrifa emphasized the crucial role of women's happiness in societal satisfaction and pledged to use every opportunity to foster women's independence and capacity to manage their households effectively.
In a gesture underscoring his commitment, Hon Afrifa donated GH¢10,000 as seed money to support the women's group.
Hon Afrifa expressed his readiness to transition the fun club into a credit union aimed at providing financial aid to women involved in entrepreneurship and apprenticeship. He highlighted the transformative potential of credit unions in empowering women economically, enabling them to start and grow businesses, thus contributing significantly to household and community welfare.
"He underscored that financial independence for women translates into better education, health, and future opportunities for their children, thereby fostering generational progress.
According to Afrifa, the establishment of a credit union for the Royal Afrifa Ladies is expected to have a substantial impact on the local economy. It will facilitate women's access to financial resources, encourage savings, and promote prudent financial management, ultimately leading to enhanced economic stability and growth in the Wassa Amenfi West constituency.
Madam Yaa Josephine for her part commended the teeming ladies for such a laudable initiative to aid in winning the Amenfi West seat, she tasked the leadership of the fun club to manage the credit union cooperative properly since it offered several advantages, particularly for women. "They provide access to affordable credit, savings accounts, and financial education, helping women to manage their finances better and invest in income-generating activities. The cooperative nature of credit unions ensures that members have a say in decision-making, promoting a sense of ownership and empowerment among women". she mentioned.
The Executive Members of the Royal Afrifa Ladies include Nancy Coffie, Chairman; Peter Gyebi, Secretary; Robert Nterful, Organizer and Deborah Arhin, Porter.
The rest are Collins Gyetuah, Welfare Officer and Veronica Kwarteng, Treasurer, Hon Afrifa who performed the official swearing-in ceremony tasked to work tirelessly in rescuing the Amenfi West seat from the NDC.
Present at the function were the Nana Ayensu, Ag Chief of Breman, Madam Yaa Josephine, Western Regional Women Organizer, Mr. Obed Asamoah, Constituency Chairman, Frank Essah, Constituency Organizer, Dorothy Ewusi, Constituency Women Organizer, Patrick Asenso Acheampong Constituency Youth Organizer, John Osway, Amenfi West NADMO Coordinator, Vida Brogya, Deputy Women Organizer, Nana Boakye (Apoco), former Constituency Chairman.
In other news, Kwasi Afrifa toured Prestea Nkwanta, Mumuni and Ayensukrom for community engagement to ascertain the challenges confronting them and the best way to curb them.
Meanwhile, Hon Afrifa shall be donating 50 bags of cement to Ayensukrom today May, 27 2024 in support of the construction of their Clinic.
