Caging Hopeson Adorye 'unfair', there's politics at play — Movement for Change

Mr Yaw Buaben Asamoa of the Movement for Change has said the arrest of Hopeson Adorye is all political.

After accompanying independent presidential aspirant Alan Kyerematen to visit the detainee in police cells at the Ministries on Wednesday, 22 May 2024, Mr Asamoa told journalists Mr Adorye is being treated unfairly.

Mr Adorye, who parted ways to join Mr Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change, told Accra FM earlier in May that the governing New Patriotic Party had him detonate dynamites in the Volta Region to scare opposition supporters in that part of the country from voting.

Along with other Movement for Change members such as Boniface Abubakar Saddique, Kofi Kapito, Alhaji Haruna Tafsiru Warlord, and Ken Kuranchie, the former Adentan MP told the press: “Hopeson Adorye is not about to run away from Ghana or his home because the police intend to charge him with the publication of false information."

"So to go to the extent of keeping him all day in the police station and bringing him over to the Ministries to detain him, you point fingers backwards at yourself that there is something political at play and it is not fair,” he added.
