Kasoa missing genitals: This is the first time IGP,  police have arrested suspects for spreading falsehood — Allotey Jacobs

Bernard Allotey Jacobs has commended IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and his officers for their swift action in arresting individuals spreading false information regarding the disappearance and shrinking of their genitals in Kasoa.

In recent days, Kasoa has been at the center of attention due to widespread reports of individuals claiming their genitals had shrunk, leading to instances of mob justice against suspects.

These rumors gained traction on social media, causing panic and fear among the public.

However, a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service refuted these claims, labeling them as false and warning against the spread of such misinformation.

“The Ghana Police Service notes with concern this increasing trend of persons making false claims of the disappearance of their genitals and blaming innocent bystanders that sometimes lead to mob attacks. We wish to caution the public against such criminal conduct that is likely to harm innocent people as well as disturb the public peace,” the statement said.

It further stated that nine individuals have been apprehended in connection with spreading these falsehoods and inciting public unrest.

Speaking on the issue during Peace FM’s "Kokrokoo" morning show, Allotey Jacobs expressed his dismay at the spread of such baseless claims, noting that similar incidents have occurred in the past.

He referenced historical instances where individuals falsely accused others of causing their genitals to shrink, causing social unrest during the Acheampong regime.

Allotey Jacobs commended the proactive steps taken by the police in addressing the situation and praised the IGP for his decisive action.

He said, “Let me commend the IGP and the Ghana Police Service. They’ve done well; for the first time they have arrested people.”
