Nana Ofori Owusu, the National Chairman of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), has raised concerns about the communication strategy employed by New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicators, asserting that their efforts to disassociate Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia from negatives of his government while crediting him for positive achievements may be detrimental to his image.
Addressing what he perceives as a "contradiction of thought" and inconsistency in the narratives presented by NPP communicators, Nana Ofori Owusu stated "One thing that the advisors or communicators do is unpleasant. Sometimes they don't understand the utterances they make."
“They are trying to dissociate the man from anything that is negative and give credit to him for everything that is positive. It is a fundamental contradiction of your thoughts and actions.
“You can't do that; when you do that, you are doing your candidate harm,'' expressed Nana Ofori Owusu.
He emphasized that such an approach could potentially harm the credibility of Dr. Bawumia as a leader and candidate, urging for a more balanced and nuanced communication strategy.
''There is an issue and the issue is that, on one hand, you cannot paint the picture that you do not have the power to do anything then on the other, the person has done well to be the best ever,'' he added.
Nana Ofori Owusu's comments were made in relation to the "Bold Solution" Lecture held by Dr. Bawumia on February 7, where the Vice President outlined his vision for his next government.
