There has been a mob attack at Assin Andoe in the Assin South District of the Central Region.

The victims, three fishermen have been severely injured after they were assaulted by some irate residents.

The victims according to reports went on a fishing expedition in River Ochi between Assin Andoe and Assin Besease when they were attacked and beaten up.

Information gathered indicates that they were mistaken for suspects involved in the beheading of young children.

Residents from both Assin Andoe and Assin Besease mobilized and pursued the supposed murderers in the bush after someone had raised an alarm, claiming he had seen the victims with a sack containing the heads of the beheaded children.

After finding the suspects who had gone on a fishing expedition in River Ochi between Assin Andoe and Assin Besease, the angry youth beat them up and destroyed their vehicle, leaving them with various degrees of injuries.

But for the intervention of the police, eye-witnesses said the worst could have happened.

The victims who have been identified as Kojo Brefo, Yakubu Ampiah, and “Liefo” are now hospitalised and battling for their lives.

Meanwhile, a search by the Police revealed that the sacks in possession of the three fishermen only contained fishing nets and stones and not human heads.
