Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has shared his view on the move by the National Security to stop the convention of the New Force.

The New Force was scheduled to hold a convention on Sunday, January 7, to unveil the person behind the mask.

Hundreds of Ghanaians who attempted to attend the convention at Independence Square were stopped at the entrance by military officers.

Dr. Clement Apaak says the action of the military must be condemned.

In his view, the thwarting of the New Force programme shows just how Ghana’s Constitution has retrogressed under the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“Such misuse of state power by this failed Akufo-Addo/Bawumia gov't doesn't augur well for our democracy and must be condemned. Doesn't the 1992 constitution guarantee freedom of speech and association? Ironically, today is CONSTITUTION Day. Our democracy has indeed retrogressed under this gov't,” Dr. Clement Apaak said.

Despite being stopped from holding its convention, the New Force managed to hold a press conference where Nana Kwame Bediako, commonly known by many as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar unveiled himself as the leader and the man behind the mask.
