Government, Give Equal Attention To Herbal Medicine Units In Government Hospitals And Clinics.

Government, Give Equal Attention To Herbal Medicine Units In Government Hospitals And Clinics.

A lot more Ghanaians have embraced herbal medicine as a potent medication for the treatment of varied ailments and graciously, patronage of herbal hospitals and clinics are very encouraging. Now that plants medicines are in vogue, proliferation of private herbal hospitals and clinics are dotted all over the place with imposing billboards advertising herbal products and locations by private investors.

While the private herbal hospitals and clinics are attracting sections of the population to their centers for herbal medicine and treatment. It's pathetic to see where Herbal medicine units in government hospitals are situated, it's located in secluded small space within the hospitals as if herbal medicine practice is a taboo.

The Weija Gbawe Municipal hospital is located at a strategic location within the municipality and the sad spectacle is, the herbal unit within the municipal hospital is so small that the Doctor and six other trainees are box up in a ten by eight feet consulting room, where there's no privacy between the doctor and the patients.

The herbal unit stand a chance of attracting quality clientele if the management of the hospital should upgrade the herbal Unit into a model plants medicine center to compete with any of the private herbal hospitals or clinics within the municipality.

Ministry of Health must emancipate itself from the negative doctrines about traditional plants medicine and expand the herbal medicine units in every government hospital or Clinic in the country.

If traditional plants medicines is as inferior as we are indoctrinated to believe, The Peoples Republic of China wouldn't have made a whooping five billion dollars through exportation of traditional Chinese medicines in 2021. Therefore, if equal attention and opportunity are given to both the traditional plants medicine and the orthodox medicine practice to thrive in all government hospitals or clinics. It would create a favourable climate for the traditional Ghanaian plants medicines practitioners to upscale their services.

Ghana stands the chance of becoming a favourable hub for plants medicines care center in the sub region, therefore it's incumbent on the ministry of health to increase funding for further promotion and investment into research and development (R&D). This would enable the plants pharmaceutical manufacturing companies to upscale products quality to meet international accepted standards.
