Feature Article Dishonourable Members Of Parliament
FRI, 21 JUL 2023

Ghana as a nation has lost it focus, the Executives wing of government are freely fleecing the state of its resources on frivolous activities. The legislature that must be a check on the Executive have miserably abandoned that responsibility for favours from the Executive President.

It's highly ridiculous for Members of Parliament to justify their reckless conduct by following their preferred presidential candidates on their campaign trails, and enveloped it as a standing convention, therefore they don't see nothing wrong with their reckless conducts.

These are people that begged the electorates to vote for them, and immediately that mandate was given to them they began to act abnormally and thinking they are more human than the very electorates that gave them the opportunity to serve, unfortunately some of them run away from their constituents only resurface when there's another elections.

Most of these Members of Parliament are very dishonourable of not taking their responsibility as the representative of their constituents seriously.

Is it not strange a house that have 275 Members of Parliament can not even marshall a minimum of 92 Members to conduct business and would be forced to adjourn business of day to another day. It's Shameful.

They claimed the legislatures are the law makers, meanwhile they break their own standing orders at will without any consequences, hence the penchant of violating it at will. How could people who claim they're honourable members would conduct business knowing very well they don't have the numbers to form quorum for ordinary business. Gradually our members of Parliament have lost the respect and accolades they usually have and are now seen as very dishonourable people.

It's very clear these members of Parliament are on an expedition to achieve their selfish and parochial interest and not the interest of their constituents as they deceptively promise. The motivation for these MPs to abandoned Parliament to follow their preferred presidential aspirants is very simple is to build a strong network with the aspirants, in case their candidate wins the presidential elections they maybe considered for appointment in the next government.

The current structure of Parliament and the attitude of the Members of Parliament nothing significant would be achieved, unless we the electorates liberate ourselves from the cages of deception and lies from the political class..
