In Ghana today, if you should comment or declare that Gyakye Quayson should go to jail, you will be assured of your safety, and no one will attack you. On the other hand, if you dare say that Gyakye should be let go and that his case and that of the Adamu Sakande are not the same, then all hell will break loose on you and your family. If you cite the misery that today's elderly are going through, when they are on the verge of losing their savings. Woe betide anyone who dare acknowledge that way too much money is being wasted at the courts.
At the same time, the government is failing to meet its financial obligations. The huge sums of Moneys being spent on the Saglemi housing case in the courts as we speak, would have been money wisely used if half of it had been used to complete the project for over a thousand would-be residents to have a proper place to live. What really is going on?
Why is Akufo Addo and the rest of them failing to see it as a national disgrace when old people go out to picket day in and day out over their locked savings. Akufo Addo is, as we sit and cry is still embarking on his jet-set, round the world tours while we have women camped outside a government office premises, because they are owed huge sums of money they have already worked for. These women actually sleep in the open and at the mercy of the elements. Meanwhile, fresh cash stashed in boxes were sent to Assin North to buy votes. Why, Akufo Addo and Bawumia, why?
What sort of careless and rubbish governance is this. Anyone who dares to acknowledge deficiencies in government choices and priorities is tagged as a naysayer. If anyone says the courts should leave The Assin North MP alone, that person gets attacks and threats plus insults. Why? That partisan judge who sat on Opuni case for God knows how long, has now retired for a new judge to take over, all at huge expenses to the state. Why this, Akufo Addo? Why?
I urge the people of Assin North to go on a massive demonstration to demand the persecution of Mr Gyakye Quayson be stopped. But in all this, why is the EC not involved in this Gyakye Quayson case. For the Supreme Court to arrive at that decision to remove Gyakye from Parliament, the EC would have informed the apex court that they at the EC have been lied to or were misled by Mr Quayson and If that was the case, we the citizens deserve to see the EC's documents on this case. Why is the EC absent in this case. According to people in the know, the EC's half-year budget can cater for the school feeding programme for about 5 years, and yet they provide substandard services of which they are not obliged to explain when required.
So why should such a state institution that receives huge amounts of public funds for their every need, why are they not being made to account for their stewardship. We are told that top personnel working at the EC are the most qualified in the business, so why are they being shielded and protected by the courts. If the top personnel who work at the EC on our behalf, if they are not fit for purpose, why keep them. In whose interest is it that we keep incompetent, ill-fitting misfits in high-end, sensitive positions. Can we have answers without insults? Thank you
