Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a unique aspirant and he is doing his campaign in a unique way. We all saw some flagbearership aspirants who resigned to launch their campaigns this year. Some ran to the political market with their 'NATO' (No Action Talk Only) messages. They even believe with all the massive development under the Nana Akufo-Addo government, despite the exogenous shocks suffered, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has no message for Ghanaians.
Dr. Bawumia on the other hand has strategically started his campaign in an orderly manner. He did not go to the public first to announce his ambition. As a well trained individual, he first of all, made his decision known to his political godfathers, President Nana Akufo-Addo and former President J. A. Kufuor, to receive their blessings and elderly advices as he seeks to fit into their shoes to lead the party. I believe, he informed the national leadership and council of elders as well.
The majority caucus in parliament is an important part of the NPP and government. They represent the people and should be the first few people to be informed in a matter like seeking to lead the party for the incoming general elections. Dr. Bawumia as a unique person did exactly that unlike others. He visited them in parliament and formally informed them of his intention to contest for the party's flagbearership. The majority of the NPP's members of parliament gave him their unflinching support and pledged to get him elected as the next flagbearer of the party and President of Ghana.
The next point of call of Dr. Bawumia after receiving overwhelming endorsements and blessings from the apex of his Party's hierarchy, was our respected chiefs, religious leaders and opinion leaders. Dr. Bawumia, as a royal himself, has a great respect for the chieftaincy institution and it will be out of place to start his campaign without seeking the blessings of our respected Chiefs in Ghana. He did that admirably and secretly. Apart from our chiefs, our religious leaders are those who pray for the nation in good and in challenging times and as a person who preaches religious tolerance he visited the key religious leaders to inform them and seek their blessings and continuous prayers for him. Other important opinion leaders were also not left out.
After informing the above-mentioned respected individuals, it was time to get to the regional level. He took time to visit the regional executives and council of elders to formally inform them of his ambition to lead the party in the 2024 presidential election. He was overwhelmingly endorsed by the regional executives across the regions and it gave him more courage to move forward with his vision to lead the NPP and Ghana.
Dr. Bawumia's submission and filing of his nomination forms was uniquely done with massive patronage of his supporters amid singing, dancing and chanting of his name. This was historic and it marked the beginning of the journey of Dr. Bawumia to the presidency as President.
The strategies adopted by Dr. Bawumia are unpredictable. When people thought he will take a rest after submission and filing of the nomination forms on that day, he rather started engaging the delegates at the base, starting from the Greater Accra Region, campaigning from constituency to constituency.
Dr. Bawumia's strategies are as unique as his messages. While others are saying NPP has no message, he is propagating the achievements of this government and the NPP and at the same time, telling the delegates his vision for the party and Ghana. The massive endorsements continuous unabated. It is indeed possible. In Shaa Allah.
ON THIS NOTE, I SAY HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO MYSELF, MY FATHER AND ALL FATHERS ACROSS THE GLOBE.
Thank you
