JUN 2, 2023 LISTEN

The Assin North Constituency is witnessing overnight construction of roads following the upcoming by-election announcement date by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

The EC on Wednesday, May 31 set the date for the by-election on Tuesday, June 27 2023.

Some earth-moving equipment have been sighted in the Assin North Constituency of the Central Region shaping some roads.

However there are mixed reactions from residents in the area. According to some residents in the area who spoke to TV‘s Thomas Cann, the ruling NPP cannot "fool" them with overnight projects as a result of the upcoming elections.

Some said no amount of “lies” will convince them to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Some expressed happiness that at least the bye-election has resulted in some development works.

“We need development, so if it is coming because of the by-election, we are happy,” one said.
