“Anytime Ghana borrows Ken Ofori-Atta’s Data Bank makes money” — A.B.A Fuseini

The Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu constituency A.B.A Fuseini has chided the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration for the reckless borrowing that has landed the country in a ditch.

The outspoken MP asserted that Mr. Ofori-Atta has no business to continue to stay in office after supervising the collapse of the economy.

“Ken Ofori-Atta should have become history at least like two years ago or more. It is morally reprehensible and never in the annals of our country’s history have we had our morals so debased, especially by what this government and Ken Ofori-Atta has done,” A.B.A Fuseini asserted.

He claimed that anytime Ken Ofori-Atta borrows for the country, his Data Bank benefits.

“Anytime we borrow Ken Ofori-Atta’s Data Bank makes money, so it makes sense for him to just go and continue reckless borrowing so that any amount we borrow, they will make more money. So today, Ken Ofori-Atta’s company has become richer at the expense of poor labouring Ghanaians,” A.B.A Fuseini said in an interview with Johnnie Hughes on 3FM Sunrise Morning Show.

Some Members of Parliament who are part of the Majority Caucus called for the dismissal of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, and the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen.

The group made the announcement to the media in Parliament on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, the Member of Parliament for the Asante-Akim North Constituency, who introduced himself as the spokesperson for the disgruntled Majority MPs group, said they decided to voice their position because several concerns sent to the government have failed to yield any positive results.

According to the group, sacking Ofori-Atta and Adu Boahen will help restore confidence in Ghana’s economy.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo called for calm from the over eighty (80) New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament calling for the sack of the Finance Minister.

the President pleaded with the agitating MPs to allow Ken Ofori-Atta, the Finance Minister to finish Ghana’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund before a decision can be taken.

In a crunch meeting with the lawmakers at the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo, from reports argued that the deal is near completion therefore the MPs should wait a little longer.
