Former Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko has taken a first step towards contesting in the flagbearer election of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
On Friday, the team of the former Minister of State was accompanied by supporters to the party’s headquarters to pick the nomination form.
Mr. Boakye Agyarko’s camp is confident he will win the flagbearer election of the NPP. They said they are not listening to the noise from the camp of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the other aspirants.
“I think everybody has a strategy and the team of Boakye Agyarko also have our own strategy and we are very sure of emerging victorious.
“We don’t mind the noises we are hearing around, we have a strategy and we are keeping to our strategy,” Dr. Benjamin Ashitey, spokesperson for Boakye Agyarko told journalists after picking up the forms on Friday.
Meanwhile, a group calling itself Bawumia Fun Club has paid the GHS50,000 to buy the nomination form for the Vice President.
Founder of the group, Ntim Jakari after picking the forms, stressed that they strongly believe Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the party’s best bet to win the 2024 General Elections.
The group maintains that if the Vice President is elected NPP flagbearer, he will break the 8 for the party.
