The registration for the maiden season of ‘The Next Titan Africa’ has officially been opened in Ghana.

The Executive Producer of The Next Titan, Mide Akinlaja on Tuesday, May 23, announced the opening at a press conference in Accra.

According to him, registration for the much-anticipated Entrepreneurship Reality TV Show sponsored by Tingo Mobile will close on June 22.

The debut Season of THE NEXT TITAN AFRICA, tagged ‘the Changemaker’ has been specially designed to provoke the entrepreneurial spirit of young Africans.

It is an expanded version of ‘The Next Titan’ reality show in Nigeria.

The Reality TV Show has been running for the past 19 years in Nigeria, and is now in its 10th season this year.

Some of the past winners of the Nigerian version have created sustainable businesses, while a number of them have won important business awards such as Forbes Under 30 Entrepreneurs in Africa.

Building on the successes of the show, the organisers have now birthed THE NEXT TITAN AFRICA with support from Tingo Mobile.

Speaking at the press conference today, Mide Akinlaja noted that 20 contestants will be selected from four African countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Malawi, and Tanzania.

The contestants will live together in a house in Lagos, Nigeria where they will battle it out on the 12 week-entrepreneurial reality show with different tasks on a weekly basis.

The winner would walk off with a grand prize of US$100,000.

Besides the $100,000 grand prize, three other runners-up will receive $10,000, $6,000, and $4,000 respectively.

Mike Akinlaja explained at the press conference that the show is designed to change the mindset of young Africans.

He said aside from the entertainment aspect of the 12-week competition show, its importance lies in igniting entrepreneurial spirit and showcasing the possibility of entrepreneurship in transforming lives with just an idea that can be scaled to greatness.

“The Next Titan is about bringing the pains and gains of the entrepreneurial journey into the living rooms of Africans giving viewers of the show undiluted entertainment and also a great opportunity for viewers to learn lessons directly through practical ways, as the contestants face different business tasks and challenges on weekly basis,” the Executive Producer of The Next Titan said.

In his concluding remarks, Mide Akinlaja expressed appreciation to Tingo Mobile for coming on board to sponsor The Next Titan Africa to inspire young Africans to get started in business.

At the press conference, Tobi Aloba, the Country Manager for Tingo Mobile in Ghana stressed that his outfit is excited about the sponsorship.

He noted that The Next Titan Africa falls in line with what Tingo Mobile has set out to achieve on the continent.

“We are glad to partner with the Next Titan for the Programme. The show falls in line with what we want to achieve. We believe we can together help entrepreneurs to grow. We have solutions and we want to help entrepreneurs to do better,” Tobi Aloba said.

On her part, the Partnership Manager of Tingo Mobile in Ghana, Zalfa Odonkor added that her outfit is dedicated to fostering the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Ghana and Africa.

“We believe this is an opportunity for young Africans to solve problems for Africans.

“We are looking forward to a long-standing partnership and we are looking forward to the contest,” she emphasised.

The format of the show is an exciting and entertaining one, and the regional auditions of the show will hold in Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania, and Nigeria, after which, the Top 50 will be shortlisted to engage in a one-week Virtual Bootcamp in the four countries, which would eventually lead to 20 finalists that would make it to the Titan House in Lagos where they would live together for 12 weeks facing different business tasks, and the 20 contestants will be gradually evicted until one winner and three runners-up would emerge.

Each week, the budding entrepreneurs will be divided into two teams to tackle a business task led by their Team Leads. After completing each task, both teams return to the weekly boardroom to discuss their experiences and give their report before the board of judges, and in the boardroom, a team will be declared a winner or a loser.

The winners will be rewarded with a treat while the losing team will nominate some of their colleagues for eviction.

The Next Titan Africa which is in its first season gives an opportunity to the brightest entrepreneurial talents in Africa between the ages of 21 and 35 who have great and innovative business ideas to compete in real-life entrepreneurial challenges in a bid to ultimately win the grand prize to start their new business or to support their existing ones.
