Ningo-Prampram District Assembly committed to ending land litigations

Prampram, June 19, CDA Consult — The Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NiPAD) has reaffirmed its commitment to ending issues of land litigation in the area.

Mr. AL-Latif Tetteh Amanor, the District Chief Executive who pledged the commitment on behalf of the assembly said strategic policies have been put in place to deal with land-related crimes in the District.

He said litigation issues arise when two or more parties believe that they are the rightful owners of a piece of land adding that these disputes could arise mainly through family feuds, abuse of power through the use of land guards, and corruption amongst chiefs and stool bearers.

Mr. Amanor who was speaking at a Town Hall Meeting in Prampram organized by the Assembly to engage its stakeholders which was monitored by the Communication for Development and Advocacy Consult (CDA Consult) in Prampram said the various stakeholders in the district were engaged in ways to assuage land disputes and make the area peaceful.

He assured residents that land litigation issues would be a thing of the past as such cases have been reduced drastically.

Asked about what exactly was causing land disputes in the district, the Ningo-Prampram DCE said the lands in the area are now expensive hence people who sold it for peanut want their lands back or engage in double sells.

He said people were also selling lands that do not belong to them as others have been battling land disputes since time immemorial.

He urged landowners in the area to avoid multiple selling of lands but rather protect them for future development due to the current decongestion in Accra and other parts of the country.

Mr. Amanor advised residents and traditional leaders to refrain from operations and activities that had the tendency of causing land disputes in the area.
