Times are hard and the government is devising every possible means to cut down expenditure. The president had already announced a 30% cut in the salary of his appointees as well budgets of most state institutions. It's important to note that in these dire times, we expect every well meaningful Ghanaian to be disciplined as well amidst economic woes.

Unfortunately, in Ghana, we believe in politics of convenience and that failure of the incumbent is a political capital for the opposition party. It has been the norm that the incumbent should fail to enable Ghanaians to usher in a new government. For this reason, our political system is full of fault findings, acrimony, dissensions and gloomy painting of the economy. Once the opposition is willing to come to power, there's nothing like let's us put our legs into the shoes of the government. If they did, power will elude them.

This cyclical mundane has eaten deep into the fibre of our moral conscience, even if it is good, we will find another way or every possible means of making it look gloomy for political expediency.

One would have thought that NDC calling on Akuffo Addo to reduce opulence lifestyle and profligate spending, would have also known better and begin to assume a posture that's nationalistic enough to prove that they stand with Ghanaians in all these things.

Surprisingly, the response that greeted the call for parliamentarians to sacrifice some percentage of their salary was negative. NDC objected to the idea and claimed Akuffo Addo must carry his own cross. Whilst NDC is busily accusing NPP of chattering about private jet flights for the president, they are also busily riding land cruisers and big cars around even the time fuel prices are on a record high. NDC is able to organize conferences in the best hotels and is comfortable sitting in opposition claiming Ghanaians are suffering.

Does this look like NDC care about Ghanaians? They are already full in opposition counting their blessings and waiting for Ghanaians to return them to the booty land. Opposition cruising in luxury and refusing to behave as suffering Ghanaians is shooting themselves in the foot and cannot be considered for power or another mandate. Ghanaians want a better Ghana with honest and sincere political entities, as it stands NDC has failed this measure with their FIRST-CLASS LIFESTYLE ON THE STREET claiming Ghanaians are suffering.
