President John Mahama Spare Us The Lamentations

Fellow Ghanaians the time is now to tell the political elites and the ruling class the bare truth no matter how sweet nor bitter the information might be. Most of these political elites are very greedy, selfish and above all wicked, careless about the wellbeing of the citizenry. Their interest is to acquired wealth and have access to power to control and intimidate citizens with dissenting views.

It is very interesting how some electorates endorses the wicked tendencies of these political elites by being sycophantic, hypocritical and blindly loyal. Let’s eschew these acts of sycophancy, hypocrisy and blind loyalty and hold members of the ruling class accountable.

It’s a common knowledge the 1992 republican constitution is the bane of our under development and empowers the political class to be corrupt and inconsiderate to the plight of the masses. Late President Mills identified some lacuna in the 1992 republican constitution and knew if nothing is done about it, may be exploited by future presidents. A year in his administration he assembled some of the best brains led by Prof. Fiadzoe to review the 1992 constitutions and formulate a framework of a developmental constitution that would satisfied the needs and aspirations of all.

The constitutional review commission after a year of dedicated service presented a report to the president and a white paper was issued by the late Prof. Mills, unfortunately he couldn’t implement the recommendations of the commission, when he was called to higher glory.

President Mahama being an integral part of the decision makers to constitute a constitutional commission to review the 1992 republican constitution. After the demise of Prof. Mills it was expected President Mahama would ensure the implementation of the recommendations therein, he deliberately allowed that important documents to gather dust, for a simple reason the review will definitely dilute the powers of future presidents which he thought would affects his powers and authority.

It appears the current President Nana Addo has decided not to have anything doing with the constitutional review commission report, and it is very disheartening the time, energy and the huge resources invested into that useful venture has gone down the drain.

President Mahama spare us the lamentations, you had all the opportunity to give life to the amendments to the constitution as recommended by the review commission, and you failed to carry through the vision of your boss the Late Professor Atta Mills to cripple the intruding claws of the executive on other organs of state. Deliberating allowing that unique documents to gather dust was an affront to the memory of the Late President.

The pain and the anguish the former president is lamenting and complaining about these days is a theatrical deceit from a political elite. Most Ghanaians have woken up from their slumber and wild awake and no longer moved by the deceits and lies from the political class.

President Nana Addo will not be on the ballot in the 2024 presidential election therefore, the implementation of the constitutional review commission report is in his domain. His Excellency President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo ignored all other interest and give life to the constitutional review commission recommendations this could prove a master stroke which will give hope to the agitators of a new constitution and also satisfies those calling for the amendments of the constitution.

Mister President further allowing that important documents to gather dust, posterity may not be kind with him.
