Government has assured the people of Ashanti that they will receive their fair share of development in his second term of the administration.

The Ashanti Region should expect massive infrastructural development which includes roads project initiations, continuing and completion of ongoing projects.

Hon. Akwasi Amoako Atta, the second time appointed minister to the road ministry made these remarks at a press briefing in Kumasi, Wednesday.

Hon. Amoako Atta who has been reappointed by President Akufo Addo to continue his good works started from the previous years.

The road Minister at his first tour visited Kumasi to inspect some ongoing projects going on within the Kumasi Metropolis.

With his entourage, Hon. Akwasi Amoako visited the Abuakwa road projects on Sunyani highway, Airport roundabout-Buokrom road, some asphalting projects, among others.

Briefing the media after the tour at the regional coordinating council, he indicated that, the Ashanti region has a total network size of about 9,700km of roads out of which about 2,400km is under construction on 214 No. Projects to improve the total road network condition in the region, representing 25 percent of the region's network.

"It must be noted that 56% of the roads in the region are in good to fair condition and this is being maintained under our routine and periodic maintenance programme". He indicated.

Detailing the projects he said, 277km overlay Asphalt, 220Km Rehabilitation, Upgrading of 55Km, Critical Roads Programme is ongoing at various places and is at various stages completion within the region.

He said, 100km Kumasi Inner Ring Road and Adjecent Street is premerseal in Oforikrom, Asokwa, Kwadaso, Subin and Bantama, which is part of the Euro 55million loan is massively going on.

According to him, Construction of Sunyani Road phase 2, through Apatrapa, Abuakwa is underway.

The 13km dualization of Ahodwo junction-Sokoban-Trede is about 65% completed.

"9.1km Dualization of Dompoase Jn-Kumtunase is about 3. 0km completed, and the Rehabilitation of selected Roads in Ashanti and western region, 23km is completed out of 68km roads". He stated.

Pipeline Programme

Commenting on other pipeline projects to be commenced in his second term, he emphasized there are going to 5 major 4-tier interchanges in Kumasi Metropolis.

This includes Bakwai Roundabout interchange which is awarded to contract, Oforikrom Interchange of which feasibility studies completed and detail designs and financing option being undertaken.

Others are Suame interchange, Ahodwo roundabout interchange, and Santasi Roundabout Interchange.

Completed Asphalting Overlay roads

Hon. Amoako Atta reiterated that there has been some completed asphalting projects within the region.

He mentioned 26km asphalt overlay of selected road in Suame and Tafo metro where 23.09km is completed.

Also, asphalting overlay road in Subin, Kwadaso, Bantama, Manhyia, Oforikrom, Agric Nzema are all underway whiles significant kilometres is completed.

Upgrading Projects

There are several upgrading projects ongoing; this includes Bakwai town roads, selected roads in Ashanti Bekwai, Donnyina town, Anwomaso Town, Domeabra town, Apromase, Essinimpong-Achina town roads and Upflgrading of Central University Kumasi campus area roads.

Critical roads programme

However, there are considering critical roads which have given attention.

This includes rehabilitation of Kumasi-Sunyani Road (N6): Mankranso to Tepa junction, 40km, Upgrading of Kwadaso-Trabuom Road, 30k, Mampong-Kofi Ase Road.

The minister assured Ashantis that, this term of office will focus much on many developments in the region.

"I will not joke with Ashanti this time regarding their roads; where your treasure is there will be your heart also". The minister assured.
