Ministers Designate for Food and Agriculture and Environment, Science, technology and Innovation, Dr Owusu Afriyie and Dr Kwaku Afriyie are expected to appear before parliament's Appointments Committee to be vetted today, Friday, February 19, 2021.

Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto served as the Food and Agriculture Minister in the president’s first term from 2017 to January 2021 and will still be at the same post if approved by the committee.

Dr Kwaku Afriyie on the other hand served as the Minister of State in charge of all State-Owned enterprises from 2017 to January 2021 and is expected to head the Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation if approved.

Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto holds a Bachelor of science degree in Agriculture and a PhD in Agric Economics from the University of Ghana and University of Cambridge respective.

He worked as Senior Economist, Principal Economist and Chief Economic Advisor over 18 years at the International Coffee Organization (ICO), London, England.

He also worked as a consultant to the World Bank, United Nations on Soft Commodities (Cocoa, Coffee, and Sugar).

He is a two-term Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, and, whilst in Parliament, from 2009 to 2013.

Dr Kwaku Afriyie holds an MB CBH from the University of Ghana Medical School and a Master of Public Health from Tulane University, New Orleans, U.S.A.

He served as the Managing Director of Afriyie Frame from 1990 to 2016 and the Managing Director of Greenshield Hospital from 1994 to 2014.
