He has been churlishly and boorishly arguing against common sense and logic that, somehow, some “Tyrant” was preventing the key operatives of the country’s main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) from presenting their post-election grievances to the Justices of the Supreme Court of Ghana (SCOG). Interestingly, as of this writing, these emotional and psychological toddlers had reportedly filed their grievance with the Apex Court, as statutorily allowed (See “How Can We Go to Court When the ‘Tyrant’ Is Blocking Our Means? – Asiedu-Nketia” 3News / Ghanaweb.com 12/19/20).
The “Tyrant” in question can be perceived from two angles or two personalities, namely, President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who roundly defeated Candidate John “SADA-Airbus” Dramani Mahama, and Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, Chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). There is obviously quite a humongous number of admirers of the professionally certified thieves, thugs and terrorists among the Ghanaian electorate who prefer the diddly and evanescent instant gratification, such as represented by the corrupt and criminal distribution of the GHȻ 20, GHȻ 10 and GHȻ 5 notes that were widely reported by the media to have been pinned to some COVID-19 protective masks by some Mahama polling agents, observers, assigns and campaign operatives and handed out at many polling stations to arriving prospective voters around the country.
To the far more levelheaded and thoughtful members of the Ghanaian electorate who sensibly prefer such far-reaching and temporally perennial, quality-of-life-enriching policy initiatives as the seismically unprecedented fee-free Senior High School System and the Akufo-Addo resuscitated National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), such instant and evanescently gratifying voter payolas are insufferably and unpardonably insulting. What is, on the other hand, very significant and morally edifying to observe here and that which puts Mrs. Mensa far and away over and above her judicial opponent, going into the 2020 Mahama-led Presidential-Election Petition, is the fact that whatever impasse or chaos characterized the Techiman-South Constituency, in the Bono Region, as already noted by Ghana’s finest Chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in the Fourth Republic, is the indisputable fact that it would not have made any heck of a significant difference, gauging from the great magnitude of votes cast in favor of President Akufo-Addo, as opposed to his closest challenger and political opponent, if all the ballots cast in the Techiman-South Constituency were added to that of former President John “Akonfem-Kanazoe” Dramani Mahama.
The “Second Tyrant,” as already adumbrated, of course, is the Chairperson of the IEC who Mr. Asiedu-Nketia virulently faults for having denied the plaintiffs access to some pink sheets which the NDC apparatchiks claim to be in dire need of to present as the evidentiary support of the substance of their petition to the Apex Court. Well, the fact of the matter is that whether the plaintiffs gain access to the proverbial pink sheets in the leadup to the presentation of their petition, heading for the filing of their 2020 Presidential-Election Petition, or not, all the requisite pieces of evidence are apt to be readily made available at the instance of the Apex Court, once judicial proceedings commence. Still, it is rather absurdly infantile for the plaintiff, that is, former President Mahama, to have first flown out of the country to grieve his case with the Secretary-General of the erstwhile British Commonwealth of Nations, presently called The Commonwealth, the Prince Charles-headed association of former British colonies, colonial possessions and dominions.
No such behavior on the part of the former President of a reputable major African nation like Ghana could be at once more embarrassing and morally absurd. Indeed, it is only a personality crudely and morbidly possessed of what may be aptly termed as the canker of “Colonial Mentality,” verging on acute dementia or mental retardation, who would behave in such a patently uncivilized and near-barbaric manner in the Twenty-First Century. Which is also one good reason why Candidate Mahama ought to never have been selected as the running-mate of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills, the precise cause of whose death Mr. Mahama has yet to officially disclose to the global Ghanaian citizenry. So far, the Gonja native, from the Akufo-Addo-created Savannah Region, would only say that: “I did not kill President Mills,” leaving widely open the question of whether, indeed, as has been widely speculated, Ghana’s first Fourth-Republican leader to die in office had not fatefully met with foul play.
It is equally tantamount to a great national embarrassment for the American Ambassador, Mrs. Stephanie Sullivan, to have been forced to intervene in a purely domestic affair in order to ensure that a thoroughly vanquished and desperate Candidate Mahama, and his showcase gender token of a Presidential Running-Mate, did not plunge the nation into chaos and possibly even civil strife. Already, a strategically passive Candidate Mahama seems to be relishing the environmentally hazardous burning of vehicular tires by unruly street demonstrators deliberately sponsored by the National Democratic Congress, the country’s main opposition political party, of which he is the de facto Leader and Supreme Commander. Well, at some point in the near future, the putatively most corrupt and grossly incompetent postcolonial Ghanaian leader, in the canonical words of the recently deceased Chairman Jerry John Rawlings, the acclaimed Founding-Father of the National Democratic Congress, may need to be swiftly and squarely called upon to account for his criminally deliberate orchestration environment pollution on our city streets and our communities all across the country.
This patently criminal and antisocial behavior on the part of Candidate Mahama is hardly newsworthy or any surprising the least bit, since the former Rawlings Communications Minister is already infamous for haughtily and criminally campaigning for the full-blast revival of Galamsey, the wantonly environmentally destructive illegal small-scale mining.
