Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodoo, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has retained his seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The MP beat his closest opponent by over 6,000 votes by garnering 41,446 votes out of the total ballots cast.
His contender, Nii Lante Bannerman of the New Patriotic Party polled 34,887 votes.
Mr. Vanderpuye notably promised to hand over the seat to Nii Lante Bannerman if he won the upcoming elections with less than 20,000 votes.
The Odododiodoo constituency is one of the election hotspots in the Greater Accra Region.
Mr. Vanderpuye was arrested on Tuesday dawn and later granted bail.
It was unclear why the legislator was kept in police custody but the arrest was after he alleged he had been attacked by some unidentified armed men.
The MP had claimed that he was attacked by persons believed to be members of the NPP at the Modak hotel at Korleworkor, a town in the constituency.
