A group of young energetic men today, the 16th day of September, 2020, assembled at the Jirapa community library to undertake a clean up exercise in preparation towards the renovation of the library.
This followed a call by a section of the youth in Jirapa for the abandoned community library to be renovated to aid students do their private studies and research especially during this Covid 19 era where schools have been closed.
Expressing his excitement, Danatus Dakurah, one of the participants said "I am glad to be here this morning, I want to see this library renovated and put to use. I know my sisters, brothers, niece and nephews will benefit from this library". Many other participants, expressed same excitement.
It can be recalled that this library was an initiative by Sir Dr Godfred Bachieyie with support from the Rotary Club of Windsor Canada. But the library has not received the best in terms of management since it was commissioned several years back. The very reason why it has been left to rot.
The youth expressed their readiness to work as and when they are called to volunteer. They also made an appeal to the authorities to fast track the renovation.
