Beloved, we must persevere in faith

I. Son of Man, Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. Let us thank God, whom we serve with pure conscience, for ushering us into another year. Beloved, as we embark on this long journey of 2026, we must persevere in faith, for there will be obstacles, mountains to climb, valleys to descend, long and lonely paths to take, disappointments to confront, stressful moments to deal with, and rejections from friends and family members. There would also be resistance from evil forces and occasional attacks against our personality and things that concern us, but we must persist and face each issue in faith and through the enabling power of the Holy Spirit. Beloved, at all times this year let us remember we are called to persevere in faith, trusting in God's power to overcome any resistance.

II. Daughter of Zion, we need to persevere because some prayer requests may encounter delays, may not be answered, or the answers may overwhelm us. Remember Daniel also had a challenge with delayed response to prayers due to the diabolical activities of the Prince of Persia. The biblical account reveals a profound spiritual truth: an angel sent by God was delayed for 21 days by the "Prince of the Kingdom of Persia", a spiritual entity resisting the angel's progress. This resistance reinforces the reality of spiritual warfare. Daniel was persistent in fasting and praying for 21 days. This enforces the biblical mandate that we should pray without ceasing. We should also be fervent in prayers, as the fervent prayer of the righteous avails much. There are things happening in the spiritual realm, and we must adopt the Daniel attitude of fervent prayer. Let us always acknowledge God's sovereign power over all resistances, and we shall overcome the prince of Persia's spirit of resistance.

III. My Beloved Sisters and Dear Brothers in the Lord, as creations of God, we exist not only in the physical but also in a realm where spiritual forces interact with human affairs, influencing outcomes and experiences. Physical events and happenings have their origin in the spiritual realms – either they emanate from the divine spiritual realm or the demonic spiritual realm. God's angels are mighty and empowered to overcome resistances, demonstrating God's control over spiritual realms, but sometimes they need the support of Michael, one of the chief princes, to help them fulfil their mandate. If angels sometimes need help to complete their tasks, especially when they encounter difficulties and challenges, then we as humans need help at all times. Don’t be afraid to look for help, and don’t play the superpower role; even angels need help sometimes. Let us trust in God's sovereignty and power to help us face challenges with confidence this year.

IV. Precious in the Lord, this year let us intensify and engage relentlessly in spiritual disciplines like prayer and studying God's Word, which will strengthen our spiritual foundation to persevere. This year let us consider challenges and resistances as divine opportunities for spiritual growth and demonstrating God's power. Let us not forget that God's power is greater than any spiritual resistance, offering protection and guidance; therefore, whatever we are confronted with, we shall overcome and be victorious if we faint not. Be encouraged that our God is in heaven; he does whatever he pleases. Let us also be mindful that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. V. 2026 IS OUR YEAR AND SEASON TO BE LIFTED UP – Let us strive to live a purposeful life aligned with God's will, impacting others and glorifying God.
