Discrimination—be it religious, tribal, or class-based—is fundamentally wrong. Even sacred texts condemn it.
As a Christian, I am deeply troubled by the way some Christians and Muslims treat traditionalists. Many who claim faith often fail to exhibit its most basic tenets—caring for their neighbor or being a Good Samaritan. They associate with others who show no fruits of the spirit yet treat outsiders with despicable behavior that is entirely inconsistent with their claimed devotion. This hypocrisy is evident across faiths, and I am sure some traditionalists also discriminate. We are all human; we are all imperfect. The only path forward is to live and let live, and love.
On Tribalism, Class, and Identity. I am a strong promoter of tradition, history, and cultural identity. However, pride in one's culture must never be a reason to look down on others. Instead, we must use our identity to learn from, celebrate, and share with those who are different. Diversity is beautiful, and who I am does not take away from who you are.The same principle applies to class. We are all bound by our shared humanity and eventual mortality. As the Dagomba proverb wisely reminds us: "No matter how high a bird flies, it will die."
We must be humble.
