A Nigerian man, Usman Zannah, has reignited online discussion after revisiting the remarkable story of how a loyalty test he devised years ago led to his best friend marrying his then-girlfriend.
Usman first went viral in 2019 when he confessed on Twitter that the plan he hatched in 2017 to test his girlfriend’s faithfulness had gone terribly wrong.
“Today has marked exactly 2 years since I sent my best friend Aliyu to go and try to date my girlfriend to test and confirm if she can accept any other man over me. They are now married with 1 child,” he wrote at the time.
According to him, what was meant to be a harmless test of loyalty quickly turned into a genuine romance between his girlfriend and his best friend, Aliyu — a twist of fate that left him stunned but has since fascinated social media users.
Eight years later, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, Usman returned to the same post with a new update that has once again captivated online audiences.
“3 kids now and counting,” he wrote, revealing that the couple’s marriage had flourished and that they had built a happy family together.
His post has since gone viral, drawing mixed reactions — with some praising Aliyu and his wife for finding love, while others sympathized with Usman over how his own loyalty test turned into a lifelong love story for someone else.
