Broadcaster and certified nutritionist Emefa Deka is leading a nationwide campaign this September to raise awareness about Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) through her Plug Her Initiative.
As a broadcaster and a PCOS warrior herself, Emefa is determined to use her voice, influence, and expertise to empower young women to better understand the condition and draw strength from their journeys.
This year’s campaign goes beyond traditional health talks. Emefa is weaving food, music, and entertainment into the advocacy to make the message both relatable and engaging. On her food and nutrition show, The Seazn’n Show on itsfuse TV (YouTube), she is hosting a special segment called Eat & Talk. The platform brings young women living with PCOS together to cook, share personal experiences, and break the stigma around the condition.
She is also producing a series of short videos to debunk myths about PCOS while engaging other women living with the condition — including musicians, influencers, and broadcasters — to amplify the campaign and reassure young girls that they are not alone. Her long-term vision is to transform this annual campaign into a movement that will provide free testing and medical support for young girls across Ghana.
Speaking about the campaign, Emefa Deka said: “As young women, our bodies tell stories that are unique to us. PCOS is not a flaw — it is part of our journey. To every young girl facing body changes, don’t let the world’s teasing or judgment make you doubt your worth. You are more than enough, and together, we will own our stories with confidence and pride.”
The Plug Her Initiative’s PCOS Awareness Campaign is calling on young women, female creatives, and health advocates to join the conversation, support the movement, and help build a safe and empowering community for girls across Ghana.
