6 female and 2 male contestants from the Association of Students of English (ASSENS) under the Department of English in the University of Education, Winneba go head-to-head on Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Lecture Theater 3, North Campus to showcase their beauty prowess to determine who is crowned the Face of ASSENS 2024.
The Face of ASSENS grand finale which takes place in the coming days is under the theme “redefining beauty to promote Ghanaian culture through education”. This year’s main event produces 6 multi-talented ladies who are set to display mind-blowing performances when they take center stage. The female contestants include; Sedem, Dr. Pat, Linda, Irene, Efe and Abigail.
Besides, only 2 male contestants are in line for the king’s crown; Kantanka and Kwame. The beauty parade is which comes off on August 9, 2024 is expected to unearth the inner beauty and intellectual acumen of these young and enthusiastic 8 contestants.
According to 9-time UEW award winning sports broadcaster Ermines Onyema better known as ErmBarometer, Face of ASSENS under the Department of English is arguably the only departmental beauty pageant in the University of Education, Winneba that trends on national online media aside Miss UEW.
ErmBarometer, the official announcer for aquatic sports at the just ended Africa Games in Ghana and doubling as the MC and official announcer for Channel 1 (Citi TV) National Swimming Championship back in July 2024, the broadcaster maintains that Department of English in UEW has produced more contestants in the TV3 Ghana Most Beautiful in recent times more than any other. The likes of Maalinuo Molly Dasoberi (Maali) in TV3 GMB 2022 and currently in 2024, Owusuaa who represents Bono East Region.
Speaking to Windy Sports broadcaster of Radio Windy Bay, 98.3FM, Gideon Adu, President of ASSENS says, “I expect a thrilling performance that entertains, educates and informs”. The eventual winners are expected to go home with some goodies which are yet to be disclosed.
Meanwhile, all 6 female contestants will look to bring their A-game on Friday night in order to dethrone the current queen of ASSENS; Dauda Faridatu as the 2 male contestants will battle it out in order to take over from the current king of ASSENS, Miracle Gabianu.
