The massive turnout for Sarkodie’s Rapperholic concert in Kumasi has drawn praise from Sam Creatives Chief Executive Officer Samuel Clottey, who says the enthusiasm shown by Asanteman offers an important lesson for Ghana’s entertainment industry.
Mr Clottey has urged Ghanaians to take pride in their own musicians and create an environment where local artistes can thrive, describing the response to Sarkodie’s event at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on October 24, 2026, as an example of what collective commitment can achieve.
He said the excitement surrounding the concert should inspire other regions to celebrate their own talents and recognise the value of standing behind musicians who continue to raise Ghana’s profile through their work.
Mr Clottey also commended DJ Mensah, Sarkodie’s personal DJ, for his contribution to the rapper’s musical journey. He acknowledged the important role played by industry professionals, including DJs, promoters, managers and event organisers, in building artistes’ careers and delivering successful shows.
According to the Sam Creatives CEO, the development of Ghana’s entertainment industry requires more than musical talent. Corporate sponsorships, effective promotion and investment in local events are equally important in helping artistes expand their audiences and compete on the international stage.
He further noted that major concerts have economic benefits beyond entertainment, creating opportunities for vendors, transport operators, hospitality businesses, event crews and other workers who depend on the creative industry.
Mr Clottey believes the example set by Asanteman should encourage a broader national effort to celebrate Ghanaian musicians, regardless of their region of origin.
He said a stronger culture of appreciating local talent would not only help artistes build sustainable careers but also strengthen Ghana’s creative industry and create more opportunities for young people.
For him, the message from Kumasi is clear: when a community takes pride in its own, the impact can extend far beyond the stage.
