Funeral arrangements have been announced for veteran gospel musician Bernice Offei, who died on September 12, 2026, at the age of 63.
The arrangements indicate that the late musician will be honoured with a remembrance night on Wednesday, November 11, ahead of her burial and final funeral rites on Saturday, November 14, at the Legon Interdenominational Church (LIC) in Legon, Accra.
The remembrance night is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm, with seating expected to commence at 6:30 pm.
On the day of the burial, filing past will take place between 7:00 am and 9:00 am, followed by the burial service from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
Her interment will be private, while the final funeral rites will be held at the church following the burial service.
A thanksgiving service will take place on Sunday, November 15, at 10:30 am at the same venue. The announcement also states that there will be no sitting after the memorial service.
Offei's death marked the loss of one of Ghana's respected gospel music figures, whose work influenced listeners over several decades.
She was widely known for gospel songs including Life Is Short, Hold On and Kaa She Gbeyei. Her achievements were recognised at the 2009 Ghana Music Awards, where she received awards for Best Female Vocal Performance and Songwriter of the Year.
In the days leading up to her death, reports emerged that Offei had gone missing in Accra on September 1. She was later found, bringing relief to her family and members of the public who had joined efforts to locate her.
Her former manager, Kwasi Ernest, later disclosed that she had battled dementia for approximately five years, a condition that affected her memory and ability to perform everyday activities.
As preparations for her final farewell get underway, her music and contribution to Ghana's gospel industry remain an enduring part of her legacy.
