Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has shared a memorable encounter with German Ambassador to Ghana Frederik Landshöft, whose appreciation for the rapper’s music has grown into a personal connection with his family.
The meeting took place at the German Residence when Black Sherif and members of his team paid a visit to the ambassador. What could have been a formal diplomatic engagement quickly turned into a relaxed exchange centred on music, personal stories and a shared interest in the artiste’s work.
Landshöft revealed that his admiration for Black Sherif began in Berlin in 2022 after he came across the hit song “Kwaku the Traveller.” The track left a strong impression on him and eventually became his personal song of the year.
His connection to the artiste’s music continued after he moved to Ghana with his family. Songs including “Lomo Lomo” and “IRON BOY” reportedly became regular favourites in the household.
The ambassador’s family took their admiration a step further in 2025 when they attended Black Sherif’s performance at Zaama Disco, having included the musician on their Christmas wish list.
Meeting the artiste in person at the German Residence therefore carried a special significance for the family.
During their conversation, Black Sherif and Landshöft discussed some of the musician’s favourite songs, the inspiration and stories behind his work, as well as his latest EP, SUN SHERIF, which has continued to draw attention from listeners.
The relaxed atmosphere continued beyond the conversation as the two took part in a game of table tennis. Black Sherif emerged narrowly victorious in the friendly contest.
Following the encounter, Landshöft praised the rapper for his humility and reflective nature while congratulating him on the release of SUN SHERIF.
The meeting offered a unique glimpse into the international reach of Black Sherif’s music, showing how his songs have connected with listeners far beyond Ghana and across different cultural backgrounds.
