Ghanaian actress Priscilla Opoku Agyemang, popularly known as Ahuofe Patri, has opened up about the impact that rumours about her personal life have had on her career and relationships.

The actress reportedly became emotional while recounting how false stories surrounding her alleged smoking habits and pregnancy affected her life, claiming that she lost major opportunities and valuable relationships because of the rumours.

The allegations surrounding Ahuofe Patri are not new. In 2017 and 2018, reports circulated online claiming that the actress was a heavy smoker and had become involved with drugs. She was also subjected to pregnancy speculation after photographs showing what appeared to be a protruding stomach surfaced on social media.

However, Ahuofe Patri publicly denied the allegations.

In an interview with Joy News’ MzGee in April 2018, she specifically rejected claims that she smoked weed and said she was not pregnant. She also expressed disappointment that some reports had dragged her mother into the controversy.

“The weed smoking rumour really affected me especially when they involved my mum,” she said at the time, explaining that she had gradually developed a tougher skin because of repeated negative publications.

The actress also stated that the allegations had not affected her ambassadorial deals at that particular time, stressing that people who knew her personally understood who she was and that her work should speak for her.

The controversy resurfaced in March 2019 when Ahuofe Patri again addressed claims that she was into drugs and was addicted to smoking.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Drive Time, she maintained that she had never been on drugs and described the reports as misconceptions.

She also spoke about the difficulty of maintaining a private life as a public figure, noting that people sometimes confuse the character she played in Boys Kasa with her real personality. She said this had contributed to misconceptions about her over the years.

Pregnancy rumours also followed the actress repeatedly. In 2018, after speculation intensified online, she dismissed the reports and later posted that pregnancy was a beautiful thing and that she would welcome motherhood in God’s time.
