James Mireku revives Elder Mireku classics with new six-track project

Ghanaian musician and producer James Mireku is set to release Elder Mireku Classics Vol. 3, a six-track project aimed at keeping the rich musical legacy of Elder Mireku alive while introducing the songs to a new generation of listeners.

The project is scheduled for release on Friday, 18 September 2026.

Elder Mireku Classics Vol. 3 builds on James Mireku’s ongoing effort to preserve some of the timeless works associated with Elder Mireku. The new collection combines the character of traditional Ghanaian gospel music with contemporary production and carefully crafted arrangements.

Rather than simply reproducing the original recordings, James Mireku brings a fresh musical approach to the songs while maintaining their core message and spiritual identity.

“This project is about carrying the sound forward without losing its soul. Every arrangement honours the original music while giving a new generation a fresh way to experience it,” James Mireku said.

The six-track project features Tuntum Black, Kofi Owusu Peprah, Calvis Hammond and FRA!, with the artistes adding their individual styles to the collection.

James Mireku serves as the producer of the project, which was recorded at JM Studios.

The release is expected to appeal to both longtime followers of Elder Mireku’s music and younger gospel music enthusiasts who may be discovering the songs for the first time.

For James Mireku, the project is not only about revisiting the past but also ensuring that music with a lasting message continues to find relevance among contemporary audiences.

Elder Mireku Classics Vol. 3 will be officially released on Friday, 18 September 2026.
