Medikal’s post sparks Frenzy amid Black Sherif, Kweku Smoke fan war

Drama is brewing in Ghana’s music scene as fans of Black Sherif and Kweku Smoke clash fiercely on social media over whose latest project reigns supreme; rapper Medikal has stirred the pot with a cryptic, jaw-dropping post.

Out of nowhere, Medikal took to X and wrote: “You can be the biggest artiste in the country and become the biggest underground artiste in this same country in the blink of an eye, Ghana na your mate?”

The timing? Netizens recall that at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards held on May 9, 2026, Black Sherif snatched the coveted Artiste of the Year (AOTY) crown, beating heavy favourite Medikal and other top contenders.

Since then, tongues have been wagging that Medikal is still nursing wounds over that painful loss.

Medikal’s post came just hours after Kweku Smoke’s banger 'Bombele' shot to No. 1 on Apple Music Top Charts Ghana, with Black Sherif’s latest release breathing down his neck at No. 2.

Fans wasted no time firing back. One user, Mummy Dummy, clapped back hard at Medikal: “You no recover from last year AOTY? Blacko really wound you waa biggie. He no come down G, e just be EP. We know about your failed album last year and we sana know what your next EP go do as well (sic).”

Many have likened the simultaneous album release on September 4, 2026, by Black Sherif and Kweku Smoke to historic hip-hop face-offs, sparking heavy online debates among music enthusiasts and commentators over streaming numbers, popularity, and rap skill.
