Togbe Afrika Announces Major Homecoming Concert in Dzodze-Penyi After Two Decades Away

Music lovers across the Volta Region are gearing up for a major entertainment night as veteran Ghanaian musician Togbe Afrika returns to the stage with a homecoming concert on Saturday, August 29, at Infinity Stars Hotel, Penyi.

The event, powered by Rois Travels with ROIS TV as media partner, marks Togbe Afrika’s first major performance after nearly 20 years away from active music. His comeback is expected to rekindle memories of his popular hits, including the widely‑known hiplife track Danye Sidzima and gospel‑influenced songs such as Menyabe Awoenam.

A Personal Return to His Roots

Togbe Afrika says choosing Dzodze-Penyi for the concert is deeply personal, noting that he grew up in the area and received part of his basic education there. He describes the event as an opportunity to reconnect with the community that shaped his early life and to seek blessings from elders before embarking on a larger national programme focused on music, education and entrepreneurship.

Enam and Jah Phinga Join the Line-Up

Telecel Ghana Music Awards winner Enam will join the bill, bringing her contemporary Ghanaian sound to the stage. Also performing is Jah Phinga, known for his versatility in Ewe, Twi and English. Their inclusion is expected to strengthen the cultural identity of the event and highlight emerging Volta talent.

Beyond Entertainment: Youth Empowerment

Togbe Afrika says the Homecoming is designed to inspire young people to avoid drug abuse, alcoholism and other destructive behaviours. He plans to share his own journey—from music to entrepreneurship and diplomatic engagement—as a reminder that young people have valuable opportunities ahead of them if they remain focused.

The programme will also create awareness about international education opportunities, including Indonesian scholarships available to Ghanaian students. As Honorary Consul of Indonesia to Ghana, Togbe Afrika has been active in promoting educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Supporting the Next Generation of Musicians

Through ROIS Music Productions, Togbe Afrika plans to identify and mentor emerging artistes from Dzodze, Penyi, Aflao, Denu, Agbozume, Klikor, Akatsi, Abor, Ave Dakpa and other communities. He says established musicians have a responsibility to create pathways for younger talents.

Regional and National Expansion

The Dzodze-Penyi concert is expected to attract about 4,000 patrons and will serve as the first in a series of homecoming events across Keta, Anloga, Adutor, Dabala, Sogakofe and Juapong. A nationwide university campus tour combining music, education, tourism, entrepreneurship and global opportunities is scheduled to begin in November, starting in Ho and Hohoe.

Call for Support

Togbe Afrika is inviting residents across the Volta Region, traditional leaders, businesses, development partners and the diaspora to support the initiative. Organisers are also calling for sponsors and partners to help advance youth empowerment, music development, tourism promotion and international opportunities.
