Ayra Starr reveals she underwent major surgery, assures fans of return soon

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr has disclosed that she recently underwent major surgery.

According to the award-winning singer, the complications during the procedure have delayed her return to public engagements.

The singer, known for hits such as 'Rush and Commas', said she had hoped for a quicker recovery but needed more time to rest before resuming her activities.

Ayra Starr shared the update in a statement issued on Thursday, July 30, where she apologised to her fans for her reduced presence.

“I’m sorry you’re not seeing as much of me as I would like. I had major surgery a few days ago. I was hoping it would be a quick recovery but it was more complicated than they expected," she wrote.

The Afrobeats star, known in private life as Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, said she was taking time to recover and regain her strength following the surgery.

She also urged fans to continue supporting her upcoming project, 'Starrgirl,' and expressed appreciation for their love and support.

“I just need a bit of rest and I’ll be back!!! Starrgirl is coming so soooon, I need everyone out there spreading the word, tell your friends, your family, your neighbours!!!” she wrote.
