'I've bought my mum cars and given her money' — Shatta Wale dismisses abandonment claims 

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has dismissed claims by his mother that he abandoned her.

His response follows public allegations by his mother, Elsie Evelyn Avemegah, who, in media interviews and viral videos, claimed she had endured hardship and ill health, including hypertension, without financial support or contact from her son for more than a decade.

Speaking during an interview on the Nigeria-based Honest Bunch Podcast, Shatta Wale described his mother's public comments as exaggerated and linked them to long-standing disagreements between his parents.

"My mother, she's an actress... My sisters, my dad, nobody was happy with what she did," Shatta Wale said.

According to the musician, the issues stem from an unresolved conflict between his parents, which he has repeatedly tried to help settle.

He said his mother believes he is closer to his father because of the guidance he received from him while growing up.

Shatta Wale firmly rejected suggestions that he had neglected his mother, stating that he had rented a house for her with plans to eventually purchase it and had provided her with vehicles and financial support on several occasions.

"I bought, I've given my mom over like three or four cars... giving her money so many times. My dad, I've given him so many money so many times... I've done both sides," said the singer.

The dancehall artiste further noted that neither of his parents is under financial pressure, noting that his siblings are also financially independent.

He added that rather than being burdened by family demands, he prefers to use much of his money to support his fans through donations and other forms of assistance.
