Legendary musician, Ebo Taylor, will be laid to rest on Saturday, August 1 in Saltpond.

Ebo, who died on February 7, 2026, at the age of 90, was one of Ghana's most celebrated highlife icons.

Funeral arrangements announced by the family indicate that a private lying-in-state will be held on Friday, July 31, ahead of a burial service at the Wesley Methodist Church in Saltpond. He will later be interred at Victoria Park.

Ebo Taylor enjoyed a remarkable music career spanning more than six decades, earning widespread recognition as one of the pioneers of Ghanaian highlife and Afrobeat. His unique blend of highlife, jazz, funk and Afrobeat influenced generations of musicians across Ghana, Africa and beyond.

During his illustrious career, he collaborated with renowned artistes such as Pat Thomas, C.K. Mann and Nigerian Afrobeat, Fela Kuti. He also played a significant role in mentoring and shaping the careers of several musicians.

As Ghana prepares to bid farewell to the music legend, many have paid tribute to his immense contribution to African music, describing his work as timeless and his influence as enduring.

Ebo Taylor's legacy is expected to live on through his extensive catalogue of music and the countless artistes inspired by his groundbreaking sound.
