Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has opened up about his past relationship with fellow musician Stonebwoy.

The two-time Ghana Music Awards' Artiste of the Year claimed that the award-winning artiste was once very close to him before their relationship changed.

According to him, Stonebwoy frequently visited him during the early days of his music career and looked up to him before gaining prominence in the industry.

Shatta Wale made the remarks during an appearance on a yet-to-be-aired episode of the Nigerian-based Honest Bunch Podcast, where he also spoke about their current relationship and longstanding rivalry.

"Stonebwoy used to be with me. He used to come to where my first room I rented. He used to call me daddy. He used to come to me and stuff like that," he said.

The self-styled dancehall king maintained that although he has no personal problem with Stonebwoy, he believes the latter is uncomfortable around him because of their history.

He further claimed that Stonebwoy's actions do not always match his public statements, insisting that he remains confident whenever they encounter each other.

"I'm cool, but he can't watch me. He can't look at me in the face. My spirit is too big for him. I'm too confident," Shatta Wale said.

Shatta Wale also noted that he sometimes feels sorry for Stonebwoy, alleging that the artiste does not want fellow reggae and dancehall musician Samini to be regarded as a bigger figure in Ghana's music industry.
