“He told producers not to cast me” – Mr. Beautiful makes shocking claims about Agya Koo

Popular Ghanaian actor Clement Bonney, known widely as Mr. Beautiful, has shed new light on what he claims transpired between him and fellow Kumawood star Agya Koo, amid renewed public debate over the controversy many believe contributed to his declining presence in the movie industry.

In an interview with Emelia Brobbey, Mr. Beautiful alleged that there was a period in the Kumawood industry when Agya Koo wielded considerable influence over casting decisions. According to him, some producers routinely sought Agya Koo’s approval on which actors should be featured in their productions.

He claimed that Agya Koo made it known to certain producers that he did not want to appear in the same movies with him or veteran actor Akwasi Boadi. Mr. Beautiful further alleged that Agya Koo sometimes refused to work with producers who insisted on casting actors he preferred not to act alongside.

According to him, this dynamic created divisions within the industry and affected opportunities for several actors. He suggested that these behind‑the‑scenes tensions contributed to the challenges he faced in securing roles at various points in his career.

Mr. Beautiful noted that the alleged internal politics played a significant role in the difficulties he encountered in Kumawood—issues that many have long speculated contributed to his reduced visibility on screen. He has previously spoken about the hardships within the industry and how the decline in movie production affected his livelihood.
