Social media is buzzing with excitement after Dancehall superstar Shatta Wale clinched two major honours at the 43rd International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) — Best African Dancehall Entertainer and Concert of the Year for ShattaFest.
Shatta Wale, who earned three nominations, missed out only on Best Music Video (for Street Crown) at the ceremony held in Florida, USA.
In the Best African Entertainer category, he outshone top contenders including Cindy Sanyu (Uganda), Redsan (Kenya), Sosey Boy (Congo‑Brazzaville), Timaya (Nigeria) and Winky D (Zimbabwe).
His flagship event, ShattaFest, also triumphed over major global concerts such as Best of the Best – Miami, Intimate Jamaica Concert – Jamaica, Zimfest – UK, and Beyond Kontrol – Ghana to win Concert of the Year.
In a statement issued on May 18, 2026, Shatta Wale’s management celebrated the achievement:
“The management of Shatta Wale proudly confirms that the African Dancehall King emerged as a double award winner at the 43rd International Reggae and World Music Awards held over the weekend in Florida, USA.”
They also thanked the organisers for recognising African music on the global stage and expressed deep appreciation to fans — especially the Shatta Movement — for their unwavering loyalty and support.
Management added that the latest feat cements Shatta Wale’s status as one of Africa’s leading musical exports and a dominant force in global dancehall culture.
