Ghanaian actress and socialite Efia Odo has shared her reservations about speaking publicly on the country’s ongoing power challenges, citing fears of being politically labeled.

Speaking during a discussion on United Showbiz, Efia Odo explained that the highly charged political atmosphere surrounding national issues often discourages her from expressing her views. According to her, individuals who comment on such matters are quickly tagged with political parties, something she is keen to avoid.

She noted that although the persistent power outages commonly referred to as “dumsor” continue to affect daily life, she has chosen to remain silent and simply endure the situation rather than risk being misinterpreted.

Efia Odo, however, offered a practical suggestion to help ease the burden on citizens. She proposed the implementation of a reliable notification system that would alert the public ahead of planned power outages. This, she said, would allow people to adequately prepare and minimize disruptions to their activities.

Drawing a comparison with the United States, she indicated that such systems are already in place there, where residents often receive prior notice sometimes via mobile phones, before electricity is interrupted.
