Showboy raises fresh questions over Ebony Reigns’ death in TikTok Live session

Controversial Ghanaian artiste and social commentator, Showboy, has reignited public debate surrounding the death of late dancehall musician Ebony Reigns following comments he made during a recent live session on TikTok.

In a video circulating widely on social media, Showboy openly questioned the circumstances that led to Ebony’s death, stating that he does not believe the artiste died solely as a result of a road accident.

According to him, “human beings don’t just die the way Ebony reportedly did,” a statement that has since generated mixed reactions online.

Ebony Reigns, born Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, died in February 2018 after sustaining fatal injuries in a car accident on the Sunyani–Kumasi road, a conclusion supported by official reports at the time. However, Showboy suggested that there could be more to the incident than what has been publicly accepted.

He also referenced public accusations that were previously directed at Ebony’s former manager, Ricky Nana Agyemang, popularly known as Bullet, noting that many Ghanaians blamed him following the tragic incident. Showboy questioned that narrative, claiming that most music managers seek spiritual help to boost the brands they manage.

During the livestream, he alleged that some managers worship idols, travel to spiritual places, consult spiritualists, and speak to ancestors in an effort to secure success and financial backing for their artistes. He claimed these spiritual investments are often made alongside financial commitments to grow an artiste’s brand.

Showboy further stated that challenges usually arise when artistes begin to make substantial money under a label and later decide to leave to pursue solo careers. According to him, such decisions often do not sit well with some managers, especially those who believe they invested heavily both financially and spiritually into building the artiste.
