Big Akwes, a Kumawood performer, has caused a great deal of public controversy with his remarks about the death of highlife icon Daddy Lumba.

When Big Akwes learned of the musician's passing, he expressed his happiness and relief in an interview with Mistake Chanti on Obantanpa Radio. He claimed that for years, Daddy Lumba had been going through a lot of surgeries and battling pains quietly.

"I was genuinely happy when I heard Daddy Lumba had passed. Not because I hated him, but because he had suffered enough. No one deserves to live in constant pain like that,” Akwes said.

He revealed that the legendary musician had been in a wheelchair for almost three years and had to endure everyday agony. Big Akwes clarified that his death should be viewed as a relief rather than a tragedy.
