Entertainment pundit and media personality DJ Slim has criticized Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie for his recent Instagram post, which has stirred controversy.
On January 8, 2025, Sarkodie posted, “Back to gari soakings like we never left,” sparking widespread speculation about its political undertones.
The post coincided with President John Dramani Mahama’s return to office on January 7, following his victory in the 2024 elections. Many interpreted Sarkodie’s remark as a jab at the economic challenges associated with Mahama’s previous administration.
Addressing the issue on his podcast, The Street Is Watching, DJ Slim did not hold back in his condemnation.
“If this has a political undertone, Sarkodie, you should bow your head in shame wherever you find yourself. You have disappointed us so much,” DJ Slim stated on January 9, 2025.
He further criticized the timing of the post, suggesting that it implied Sarkodie’s public alignment with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“I think this is the wrong statement for him based on the time. The post could mean different things, but the timing suggests he has publicly declared himself as a member of the New Patriotic Party,” DJ Slim added.
Sarkodie has a history of being critical of Mahama’s administration. During Mahama’s previous term, the rapper voiced his frustrations through songs like his 2014 hit “Inflation,” which criticized the government’s handling of the economy.
However, Sarkodie remained conspicuously silent during President Akufo-Addo’s tenure, despite calls from fans to address similar concerns.
