Rapper Sarkodie has found himself at the center of controversy following a cryptic Instagram post on January 8, 2025.
The post, which read, "Back to Gari Soakings like we never left," offered no further explanation but sparked widespread speculation and debate on social media.
Many interpreted the statement as a subtle jab at President John Dramani Mahama, who was inaugurated on January 7 after his victory in the 2024 general elections.
Sarkodie has previously been vocal about his discontent with Mahama’s administration during 2013-2016, using his music to express frustrations over economic hardships - inflation is an example.
However, his perceived silence during the tenure of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration (2017-2024) has led some to allege political bias, speculating that he aligned himself with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Critics on social media have called out what they see as inconsistency, with some fans even threatening to boycott his music over what they perceive as partisan undertones.
